N' ORLEANS-HAIK WEDDING

On Easter weekend, Marc and I enjoyed the wedding of Kenneth (Gus) Haik and Erin Ferrell in New Orleans.  Alex enjoyed a weekend in TX with Paw-Paw Mike and Grandma Susie.  Enjoy the pics!

Yes, Aimee is pregnant...due in July!!!

bride and groom are to the far left...this was at the rehearsal dinner

 night before the wedding...

after the reception, we all hit downtown NO...crazy but fun!

The girls turned in at 1am (Jen and I) and the guys stayed out until 5am...yikes!  The only "evidence" of the guy time is Marc riding the mechanical bull.  I don't think he's the next Urban Cowboy!

GOTTA BE PROUD.

I just got back from one trip today, and I'm leaving again tomorrow so I wanted to throw a quick BLOG up.  Marc and I went to a "White Trash Bash" party two weeks ago Friday and the invitation said, "Bring your own mullet B*!ches...so we did.  It was a toss up on who would be the designated driver, but I quickly agreed after Marc said, "I have to drink if I'm going to wear this thing."  I laughed so hard when he put it on at home that I "liked it better than the Pirates of Penzance" if you know what I mean.  Alex was another story.  At first, he told Marc, "I don't like that.  Take it off."  We explained that it's just a costume, just like he wore a Buzz Lightyear costume at Halloween.  By the time we left for the party he wanted to try it on.  It looks even more white trash on Alex since the party in the back is almost down to his waist.  I wore my good old Reno 911 costume from EWS last year.  The other funny part was that the party was at our friends' house on base so we could not drive through the front gate in our costumes.  We took off the wigs and I put on big baggy sweatpants and a sweatshirt, while Marc put a tshirt over his sleeveless beauty.  Enjoy these classic photos, notice the Busch Light...they also had Pap's Blue Ribbon in a can.  Darla, I brought your cheeseball and everyone LOVED it!

SO LONG, APRIL AND HELLO, MAY!

Well, I have just a little catching up to do.  Chuck (Poppy) came to visit us 14-17 April for Marc's change of command (15 April) and we had a GREAT weekend.  On Friday we all went to Marc's change of command.  He is now the commanding officer of Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines.  On Saturday, we went to the beach (second week in a row for us!) and it was absolutely gorgeous.  Poppy helped Alex build a giant sand castle with a moat.  We stayed 3 hours and got lots of sun and fun.

Mr. Funny

That's Marc and me (not models), not watching Alex.

I showed Alex how to sink his feet in the mud..he thought that was neat-o.

 Playing in the mud

 Splish splashing around

he got his nerve up and wanted to wade out deeper with us...he love it!

Alex and I took Rummy for jog a few weeks ago and he tripped running uphill.  After lots of tears and me carrying him halfway home (whew!) we cleaned it up and got a band aid.  All he could talk about was "all the blood" which was very minimal, ha ha!  I told him, "Wow, that's a big boo boo."  He said, "Yeah, that is not cool."  and he held his shorts up the whole way back to keep them clean (yikes that is so me).

shrek bandaid...and a red popsicle topped it off, all is now well.

 starting the castle...

WOW!  nobody's getting in with buzz lightyear and a shark guarding the castle...

just lounging...this was towards the end of the 3 hours so he was getting tired

 After Marc's change of command...

alex was enthralled with the guns and trucks

we are so proud of daddy!

here,  Marc is taking the Battery guide-on from the other Capt, signaling him taking command of the Marines/Battery

Marc then gives the guide-on to the 1stSgt, who reposts it

now Marcs stands on the right, in command of the formation...

Swimming lessons are paying off!

BEACH DAY FUN

We decided to hit the beach for a few hours Sunday afternoon and it was gorgeous.  A little windy, but not a cloud in the sky.  We packed up our blanket, towels, toys, chairs and cooler w/ lunch and headed to DelMar beach on base.  Alex had lots of fun and fell asleep before we even got 1 mile away after we left.  He ran up and down the waterline, we all played football together (throwing it), and he even ventured out waist deep in the surf with me.  He thought it was just too funny when the waves broke and splashed us.  The water, of course, was super cold so that's when the wind bothered us....our legs were like popsicles after exiting the water!  We can't wait to go back soon!
